What should I do before my appointment?

If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least three days before your appointment. If you like a specific style, please bring some example photos. Advil or Tylenol (or any blood-thinning medications), alcohol and caffeine should be avoided 72 hours before your procedure. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you must wait at least one year after finishing your treatment before considering a cosmetic tattoo. Please avoid tanning beds 30 days before and after the procedure.

What should I do after my appointment to ensure the best results?

All aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure proper healing and retention of your tattoo. Skin ink retention varies due to sun exposure, skin type, and lifestyle. Using sunscreen AFTER healing is an excellent way to maintain the colour of your microbladed brows. If you plan on receiving any chemical facial peels or laser treatments, they should not be performed on the area that has been treated to ensure the final look of your tattoo. Some clients may require a 3rd visit 6 to 8 weeks after the 2nd session, depending on personal aesthetics, lifestyle and individual skin type.

Who is not a good candidate for microblading?

While microblading/ nanoblading can be performed on most individuals and skin types, there are several situations which could lead to less ideal outcomes:

  • Those with oily skin may find their tattooed hairstrokes heal with a softer, more diffused look.

  • After the procedure, those without any pre-existing hair will have a more 2-dimensional looking eyebrow.

  • Those with anaemia or iron deficiencies can experience quicker pigment fading and bruising/ bleeding during and after the procedure.

  • As a precaution, microblading is not performed on those prone to keloid scarring.

  • Cosmetic tattoos are not performed during pregnancy or nursing, those with psoriasis or an open wound/ broken skin near the area being worked on.

What is the difference between Feather Nano Brows and Microblading or Nanoblading?

Microblading is a traditional form of tattooing using a manual hand-held pen. Feather Nano Brows are performed with a tattoo machine which creates precise hairstrokes. While microblading has some limitations (as mentioned above), Nano brows can be performed on almost all skin types, including oily skin and mature skin. The main difference between these two procedures is the longevity of the tattoos; microbladed brows last about a year whereas Nano Brows will last about three years.

What can I expect during the procedure?

At your first appointment, Brittany will review any ideas and stylistic approach you would like to achieve and how these can result in a naturally complimentary final result.

High-quality numbing agents are used before and during the procedure to ensure pain is kept at a comfortable threshold. With microblading, some clients describe the procedure as a "scratch-like feeling". Due to proper numbing techniques, most clients are perfectly comfortable throughout the entire procedure.

Brittany will take a detailed measurement of your unique facial symmetry and design your eyebrows accordingly. Your brow shape is custom-made to frame the special features of your face. You will be consulted throughout the process to ensure you're happy with the profile and choose the most natural colour that matches your existing eyebrow hair if you don't have any eyebrow hair.

What should I expect during the healing process?

Generally, the first step of healing takes approximately 7 – 10 days. This is the time when compliance with aftercare is essential. Refer to the before and after care instructions for specific details on home care before and after your appointment. Overall, your brows require 4-6 weeks to heal completely before your touch up appointment.

How long will cosmetic tattoos last, and will they fade?

Everyone's results are different. This depends on lifestyle, cosmetic procedures, sun exposure, body chemistry, and your natural skin type. Generally, microblading can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, with the most common duration around one year. Feather Nano Brows will last up to three years. With all cosmetic tattoos, the overall work will lighten and almost completely fade over time if left without touching the tattoo up.

A follow-up appointment is suggested every one to two years, depending on your treatment to maintain a fresh look.

How safe is the procedure?

There is minimal skin trauma during the procedure when an experienced artist does your cosmetic tattoo. Most clients develop no more or less redness than they would from a brow wax; others leave without any redness. If you tend to have sensitive skin, you may experience more redness or sensitivity. We provide you with a high-quality healing ointment for aftercare.

Each cosmetic tattooing procedure is completed by Brittany Burkett, who has been in the medical industry for over 15 years. Asepsis and complete sterilization protocol is maintained. All needles are new and single-use only. Personal protection equipment is used during every procedure.
